These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Checkers (also known as Damas & Draughts), And all our apps and games, published by MagicWordGames (“MagicWordGames”, “we”, “us”), and of our website at https://magicwordgames.com/ (the “Services”).
By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and forms part of these Terms.
Who may use the Services
You may use single-player and local two-player modes at any age.
Online multiplayer is only for people aged 13 or over. Online play requires an account and shows a name you choose to other players. We ask for your month and year of birth before you can create an online account. If you are under 13, you may keep using every other part of the game.
If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Your account
You only need an account to play online. You can sign in with Google or play as a guest.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Do not share your account, and do not use anyone else’s.
- Provide accurate information when we ask for it, including your age.
Guest accounts are tied to your device and are not recoverable. If you play as a guest and then uninstall the app, clear its data, or lose the device, that account and its display name, rating, and statistics are gone. Link the guest account to Google if you want to keep it.
Fair play
You agree not to:
- use a modified, automated, or unofficial client, or any tool that plays or assists your moves
- exploit bugs, network conditions, or timing to gain an advantage
- deliberately disconnect, stall, or waste the clock to avoid a loss or to frustrate an opponent
- manipulate ratings or results, including arranging outcomes or playing against accounts you also control
- interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our services or another player’s account
Display name and conduct
You choose your display name. Other players can see it.
You agree not to choose a name, or behave toward other players, in a way that is obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, discriminatory, or that impersonates another person, a real organisation, or MagicWordGames staff.
We check names against a blocked-word list. That list cannot catch everything. You remain responsible for the name you pick.
The Services do not include chat or private messaging between players.
Reporting and enforcement
You can report another player from the end-of-match screen. Reports go only to us and are not shown to the person reported.
If we believe these Terms have been broken, we may — with or without notice — reset a display name, adjust or reset a rating and statistics, restrict online play, or suspend or terminate an account.
We aim to act proportionately. We do not guarantee that we will act on every report or tell you the outcome of one you submit.
Ratings, statistics, and match records
Ratings, statistics, and match records are generated by our systems and belong to the Services. They are a record of play, not property. They have no monetary value and cannot be sold, transferred, or exchanged.
We may correct, recalculate, or reset ratings and statistics after a bug, abuse of the rating system, or a change to how rating is calculated.
Advertising
The Services are supported by advertising, including banner, full-screen, and app-open ads supplied by third parties.
Some ads are optional and rewarded: you may watch one in exchange for an in-game benefit (for example extra undos). Watching is always your choice. Everything in the game remains available without watching a rewarded ad.
There are no purchases in the Services. We do not sell in-game items, currency, or subscriptions, and we will never ask you for payment details. If someone asks you to pay for something claiming to be from MagicWordGames, it is not from us — tell us at contact@magicwordgames.com.
Availability and changes
We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time, including online multiplayer. Online play depends on services we do not control. We do not guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that a match in progress will always complete.
We are not responsible for a match, rating change, or result lost to a network problem, a device problem, or downtime.
Our content
The Services, including software, artwork, sound, text, and branding, are owned by MagicWordGames or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
You may use the Services for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, distribute, sell, rent, or create derivative works from the Services, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
Ending your use
You may stop at any time. You can delete your online account in the game, on your profile screen, or by following magicwordgames.com/delete-account. Deleting your account does not uninstall the app.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms, or if we stop offering the Services.
Records of matches you played may be kept after your account is deleted, because a match is also part of your opponent’s history. See the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MagicWordGames will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, ratings, progress, goodwill, or profits, arising out of your use of the Services.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales (GB), without regard to conflict of law provisions, matching the terms already published on magicwordgames.com. You and MagicWordGames agree that courts in England and Wales have jurisdiction over disputes arising out of these Terms, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
Changes
We may update these Terms. The current version will be at https://magicwordgames.com/terms-of-service. Where a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to let you know. Using the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
